Tomorrow Alicia and I are off to Apache Junction, AZ for some much needed r&r. I don’t know much about this place we’re headed to but I’ll soon find out whether that’s a good thing or bad thing. I do hope some interesting shit goes down in Apache Junction although I must admit I won’t be easily impressed. Not to brag or anything but I have been to Castroville, home of the world’s largest artichoke.
I believe that Castroville’s name came from the early residents deep affection for Fidel Castro and the giant artichoke came from the later residents fetish for oversize plants. I’m can’t really tell you that this is true since I did absolutely zero research but I’m sure nobody really knows the true secrets of the city’s history so that may be as close as we’ll ever get.
Anyways, I hope to come back from Apache Junction rested and ready for another quarter of school and perhaps with some sweet wares.
Things to do in Apache Junction
- find some good eats
- go the flea market (i hope it’s just like a mini mall)
- buy a cactus
- say “how” to an native american
- formulate my plan to build an artichoke in my backyard even bigger than the one in Castroville.
I dont have any new drawings to post this week but I did make two new posters for room! Spending time makings these have been one of very few things keeping me sane during finals.
The other thing keeping me sane?
…Karate Fighters!!!!
I bought these for $5 off of ebay. Hooray for the return of lost childhood toys!
